Karel Vogel (1897-1961) moved to England in 1938 and became principal of the sculpture school at Camberwell School of Art, teaching a number of other artists whose work is in the collection. His works includes reliefs for the Pavilions of Power and Production at the 1951 Festival of Britain and public sculptures commissioned by London County Council in the 1950s. Vogel referred to this work not by its official title, but as ‘Clouds.’
