Jonathan Clarke (b.1961) was apprenticed under his father, the sculptor Geoffrey Clarke and began exhibiting his own work in the early 1980s. His work often takes inspiration from social, spiritual and mythological subject matter. Ports of Call I, XII, XV are three of a series of 15 sculptures based on the Stations of the Cross, a 14-step Catholic devotion commemoration Jesus’s last day on earth. They represent the Condemnation of Jesus, the Deposition and the Resurrection respectively.
