F.E. McWilliam (1909-1992) was a Northern Irish sculptor who worked chiefly in stone, wood and bronze. The human figure was at the core of McWilliam’s sculpture, often informed by memory and personal experience rather than the universal. This portrait of fellow artist and former student, Elisabeth Frink (whose bronze Boar stands in the Water Gardens), was exhibited at the 1954 Open-Air Sculpture Exhibition in London’s Holland Park.
