Paloma Proudfoot was the second Sculpture Town Artist in Residence in 2017. She works primarily in ceramics, installation and clothes-making. Tyg was inspired by Metropolitan Ware, a type of pottery that came out of the ceramics industry that existed in Harlow in the 17th century. Examples of can be seen on display alongside Tyg in Harlow Museum. Metropolitan Ware was made in Essex and transported to London, the metropole, for market.
